Long Island is an Island that is part of the state of New York. Long Island stretches from the New York Harbor into the north Atlantic Ocean. On the Northern part of Long Island seats Long Island Sound and on the Southern part, Jamaica Bay, South Oyster Bay and the Great South Bay. Long Island is home to the New York Jets, a National Football League (NFL) team. The New York Jets are based in the Island but play their home games in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The New York Jets have one Super Bowl title, that was the third edition of the championship. On the eastern end of the Island are two partitions, the north folk and the south folk.

Brooklyn and Queens, Boroughs of New York city, are on the western part in the Island. Nassau and Suffolk counties are to the east of the two boroughs. Long Island is the fourth largest Island in the country. Long Island has a water supply problem due to no large streams. Water is provided from groundwater or the mainland. The following industries were brought up by the English and the Dutch; fishing, farming and whaling.

This Industries were meant to bring in settlers to the Island but it didn't actually take off until access to the mainland, New York City was made possible. Accelerated growth came about after the second World War. The industries flourishing in Long Island are; Real estate and the production of Wine grapes. Two of the Busiest airports in the country if not the world are based in the western part of Long Island, John F. Kennedy and La Guardia. The Brookhaven national laboratory is situated on the eastern part of Long Island. If traveling to Long Island the hotels are world class the so are the restaurants with different kinds of cuisines. Accommodation is readily available. here are a few of those hotels; Holiday Inn Express Midtown-Long Island City, Garden City Hotel-Long Island, Executive Inn at Woodbury, The Inn at Fox Hollow-Woodbury and Best Western Inn-Woodbury. Here are a few famous residents of Long Island; Mariah Carey, Amy Fisher, Howard Stern, Eddie Money, Alec Baldwin, Billy Joel and Ashanti.
