An estimate done in 2003, put Pittsburgh's population at three hPittsburgh Cityundred and twenty five thousand, three hundred and thirty seven residents. The city is the second largest in the state of Pennsylvania. President George Washington gave a direct command to the army, to put an end to the Whisky rebellion in Pittsburgh, which had become a hub of the same. Pittsburgh in the early nineteenth century became one of the world Industrial leaders. Pittsburgh was give the name "The Steel City" due to the cities huge production of Steel, one of it's major industries. Pittsburgh is based at the point of Juncture of the Allengheny and the Monongahela Rivers. Europeans settled in Pittsburgh in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries to seek jobs from the following industries; Railroad, Coal mines and the steel mills.

 In 1960, Pittsburgh was ranked as the first nuclear powered city in the world, due to the existence of the close by Bettis Laboratory and the Shipping port power plant. Pittsburgh was known as a polluted city and dirty due to it's steel industries. After they shut down because of the recession that occurred in the 70s the city shed that image.
