Jacksonville is the largest city in the state of Florida with a population of slightly aJacksonville Citybove seven hundred and seventy three thousand residents, ranking thirteenth in the United States. Jacksonville is situated in the north eastern part of the state. In terms of land area, Jacksonville is ranked number one in the Country. Jacksonville was first known Cowford, later in the early nineteenth century it was renamed after the seventh United States President, Andrew Jackson and the first territorial governor of the state.

The Saint Johns River close to the city captivated explorers back in the sixteenth century and that brought them flooding into the city. Jacksonville was established as a city in 1832. In the course of the Civil War, a lot of Jacksonville was annihilated by the Union forces. The city recuperated with the establishments of it's harbor and the railroad. Here are some of the demographics for the city of Jacksonville; Living in the city are 190,614 families. 64.48% of the population are White, 29.03% are African American, 4.16% are Hispanic or Latino, 2.78% are of Asian origin, 0.34% are Native American and 0.06% Pacific Islander. Jacksonville's economy is driven by the following industries; biomedical technology, distribution, financial services, manufacturing and information services.

Jacksonville port is ranked first in the United States for the import of automobiles. Having all the sports tournaments every year and a perfect climate, Jacksonville has been a tourist hotspot for quite sometime. The hotels are splendid. Here are a few of them; Hilton Garden Inn Airport, Hilton Garden Inn St. Augustine Beach, AmeriSuites Baymeadows, Renaissance World Golf Village, Regency Inn Jacksonville, Marriott Jacksonville Hotel, HJacksonville Cityampton Inn Jacksonville Airport, Sheraton's Vistana Golf Village and the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island. Jacksonville only has one of the major United States sports franchises based in the city; Jacksonville Jaguars (National Football League). Other sports teams based in Jacksonville are the Jacksonville Barracudas, Jacksonville Suns and the Jacksonville Lizard Kings. Jacksonville city was the host of Super Bowl XXXIX played on February 6th, 2005. The state of Florida has been honored by the National Football League (NFL) in granting three of it's cities as the hosts for the Championship game. Tampa, Miami and Jacksonville are the cities.

The world Golf Hall of Fame is located in Jacksonville. One of the four majors of golf, the Players Championship is played every year in Jacksonville's Tournament Players Club at Sawgrass. The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) holds one of it's annual tournaments, the Bausch and Lomb Championship, north of the city.
